WNWHL in Partnership with Dreamscheme

What are dreamschemes?

A dreamscheme is community youth development based on a simple concept of WORK, POINTS and TRIPS. Young people are enabled to carry out community based work projects for which they earn points. These can then
be exchanged for trips and activities of their choice. Our mission is to inspire and enable communities to release the potential of their young people.

The key is in its simplicity to replicate across almost any estate or community. Dreamschemes exist as parts of Housing Associations; Residents' Associations; Community Safety Units; Regeneration Initiatives; or simply as a way for parents to ensure their children have something constructive to engage in.

One of the key benefits we've observed is in the reduction of anti-social behaviour; the knock on effects of this have reached policing of the areas, improved living environments, raised expectations of the young people and improved communications and relationships between residents.

The important impact of these schemes makes it an attractive prospect for many businesses who want to get involved in local community initiatives as part of their corporate responsibility programme. If you want to learn more about the ways you or your business can make a difference find out where your nearest Dreamscheme is and see how you can get involved. The Fairfield Dreamscheme Bramley

The Fairfields Partnership have supported the Dreamscheme and thanks to them, tenants & residents and the young people have formed a committee, The Fairfields Dreamscheme.

We have already attracted over 20 young people from the estate. They recently had their first meeting. The first project was on the 4th March 2008, It was the restoration of wild life garden, at Bramley Primary School.  The group of young people earned enough points to go bowling and a visit to a burger restaurant.
