Continental Landscapes Limited will be taking over the grass cutting contract from Glendale with responsibility for the housing estates and public areas within Leeds from 1 January 2012.
The new contract specifies the number of cuts and visits to an area that Continental will be responsible for when carrying out grass cutting, shrub beds and hedge maintenance.
Local residents were involved in choosing Continental and highlighted the company’s commitment to ensuring staff are trained to NVQ level 2 in amenity horticulture, employing local people and offering apprenticeships as well as being competitive on price. This will add up to mean quicker response times, a localised estate service and more resident input in making sure the jobs done are up to standard. Continental will operate from three bases located in Seacroft, Hunslet and Calverley/ Farsley.
The process for reporting any grounds maintenance queries or issues remain the same: either call in to your local housing office, speak to your Housing Support Officer or ring the Contact Centre on freephone 0800 915 1113 or 0113 398 4708 from a landline.
The only changes you will see in your areas are the new vans and staff uniforms. Continental staff will also be available to attend resident’s meetings if there are any issues of particular concern.
As part of the new contract, there will be opportunities to drop-in to Continental’s depots, have a chat with staff and see what equipment is used.
