Fusion - Celebrating Diversity and Bringing Customers Together

Fashion conscious council tenants followed in the footsteps of Naomi Campbell when they took to the catwalk. The 'models' all live in council houses or flats in west and north-west Leeds.

The Fusion fashion show at The Village Hotel, West Park, was organised to celebrate diversity in the west and north west areas of the city.

An audience of 150 of our tenants were treated to a night of glamour, which included Chinese dancers, sitar and tabla music and Fuego Latino dancers.

Claire Warren, Chief Executive of West North West Homes Leeds, said: "The dedication of our staff and tenants was evident in this event and everyone enjoyed a fantastic evening."

The models' clothes were donated from local Asian and African communities, as well as the Leeds College of Art and Design, the Leeds Chinese Community School and ROCO Dramatic Society.

All the models were recruited through BUZZ, our magazine for tenants. Before the event they had to undergo six weeks of professional training by a choreographer.

Almost £1,500 was raised to be shared between St George's Crypt, Leeds and MacMillan Cancer Support.

Fusion was sponsored by contractors Frank Haslam Milan and Kier Building Maintenance.

Michelle Regan from FHM said: "We've been  working in these parts of Leeds for some time, and understand the importance of recognising and celebrating the diversity of these communities."

West North West Homes would like to thank everyone who attended and supported this unique and fun event.
