SHOUT IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS – WEST NORTH WEST HOMES BEST AT TALKING TO RESIDENTS
Residents in west and north west Leeds get a better chance of having their say, according to a special award given to one of the city’s housing bodies for the way it communicates with council tenants.
The Quality Mark for Resident Involvement has been awarded to West North West Homes Leeds by the Tenant Participation Advisory Service
The award comes after months of testing on how well WNWHL involve residents in improving their services and providing the right services to meet public needs.
West North West Homes Leeds is one of Leeds City Council’s three Arms-Length Management Organisations (ALMOs) which run and maintain Leeds’ council housing stock.
Good areas of practice highlighted included the Area Panel Bidding process, the Customer Sounding Boards and the accessibility of the information, due to the easy to understand formats.
Further improvements are planned including a new idea to focus on a single issue at one time to avoid bombarding people with too much information.
Services offered by the local housing office include collecting rents, managing estates, inspecting and arranging day-to-day repairs to council homes, dealing with breaches of tenancy, consulting council tenants and making sure that all tenants have a say in the future of their area, letting council homes, managing and arranging the modernisation and improvement of council homes and employing staff.
Claire Warren, Chief Executive of WNWHL said:
"We were delighted to hear that we had been awarded the quality mark for resident involvement by the Tenant Participation Advisory Service. The award validates our unshakeable commitment to increasing our customers’ influence in how we deliver our services"
We also look forward to putting the TPAS advice into practice and continue to strengthen relationships with all of our customers and communities."
