Gas Servicing and Maintenance continues to be a high priority service for WNWHL’s. Our target is to complete an annual service and safety check in 100% of all homes with gas. This is a key priority and a Statutory Legal Obligation.
Gas servicing is carried out in your homes by Mears
If you do not allow access, a further letter will be sent to you with an appointment date for the gas engineer to visit. If the appointment date you have been given is not convenient, please contact the gas contractor for your area to re-arrange the appointment.
If you are not available during working hours, appointments can be arranged early evenings or on a Saturday morning.
Failure to allow access will result in a Section 54 Notice being served. This Notice is the first step in taking legal action against you. If you do not allow access following the service of this Notice your case will be referred to WNWhL’s Tenancy Enforcement Team.
If we repeatedly have difficulty gaining access to service the gas we will fit a restrictor. This is a timed device that will sound an alarm and limit the gas supply to your home if a service has not been carried out within the specified time.
If you have persistently failed to allow access year upon year, WNWhL’s may take swift legal action against you and the above procedure will be by-passed in view of the Health and Safety risks attached to gas servicing.
If legal action is taken against you, you will incur court costs in excess of £600.00. These costs will be re-charged to you, as will any additional costs such as the change of locks if forced entry is necessary.
Servicing gas appliances saves lives; it is a free service that will take no more than 60 minutes of your time to carry out. Please help us to make sure that you and your family are safe in your home.
